Some engines are timed using a full timing grid on the flywheel and an adjustable pointer. If Major powerhead components are replaced or the timing pointer is disturbed, the pointer location must be checked with this tool. Step-by-step instructions are included in your service manuals.
Remember - peak engine performance depends on your accuracy in ignition timing.
