For late 1972 and all 1973-77 stern drives. Since the middle of the 1972 model year. a new bearing and shims have been used on the intermediate housing driveshaft. Accurate shimming of this bearing is necessary to insnre
proper ball gear location, normal bearing life, and minimum drag.
This gauge makes measurement simple.
